Opened in 1894 and restored with new fire escapes after the Great Fire of 1904, the 2,765 seat Massey Hall at No 178 Victoria St in Toronto Ontario has played host to concerts, lectures, weddings, movies, boxing matches, beauty contests, religious and political rallies, typing contests and chess tournaments. The building was designated an Ontario Heritage Property in 1973 and a National Historic Site of Canada in 1981.
On a personal note... A very partial list of some of my fave live performances I was lucky enough to see over the years at MH:
REM
Van Morrison
Tom Waits
Robert Cray
Gentle Giant
Toronto Symphony Orchestra
